Selam meets with H.E Deputy State Minister of Ministry of Culture and Sports Nefisa Almahdi to discuss the findings of ”Baseline Study and Actor Mapping for Public Investment in Ethiopia’s Culture Sector”.

Selam met with H.E Deputy State Minister of Ministry of Culture and Sports Nefisa Almahdi on November 11, 2024 to discuss the findings of ”Baseline Study and Actor Mapping for Public Investment in Ethiopia’s Culture Sector”.
On the discussion H.E Deputy State Minister of Ministry of Culture and Sport Nefisa Almahdi stated that the contribution of Selam is to be greatly appreciated. H.E urged Selam to provide its support in policy revision and to continue providing its support to experts.
Dr. Yismah, lead researcher of the study, emphasized the need for sector professionals to address broader issues that can transform the cultural landscape. Mr. Samuel Mulugeta, country director of Selam Ethiopia, outlined plans to strengthen cultural associations and promote high-level policy dialogues within the sector. He also highlighted the upcoming cartoon residency program under the “Connect for Culture Africa” (CFCA) project, which will engage artists from five countries, including Ethiopia, to tackle sector challenges through art.
Mr. Teshome Wondimu Founder of Selam on his part stated that Selam plans on coming up with courses on copy right, culture leadership and said he believes the research should continue. He added that there needs to be a discussion on how the researches will also be utilized.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Teshome Wondimu presented the study to H.E. the Deputy State Minister.
