Cultural Abilities

"Cultural Abilities" is a project born from the successes of Selam's past initiatives, including "Inner Vision" and "Scaling Up Inner Vision," both supported by the Swedish PostCode Lottery, and "Music Leads the Way," a youth-focused project funded by Forum Syd. Inner Vision

Inner Vision, a Selam Ethiopia initiative, is a transformative project dedicated to empowering visually impaired and blind youth in Ethiopia through music training, studio recording, and inclusive education. Launched with support from the Swedish Postkodlotteriet in 2012, the program's overarching goal is to provide vocational training, combat disability-driven exclusion and marginalisation. Over the course of its short duration, Inner Vision has successfully equipped seventeen students with both theoretical and practical expertise in traditional and contemporary music styles, visibility, and advocacy.
