Selam Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Tigray Regional Bureau of Culture and Tourism, successfully conducted an Intellectual Property Rights Awareness Workshop on August 23, 2025, at Atse Yohannes Hotel in Mekelle.
The full-day workshop brought together trained artists, writers, and representatives from cultural institutions, focusing on essential topics such as copyright, creative rights, and intellectual property (IP) ownership. The goal: to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to better protect and manage their creative works.
The session was expertly facilitated by Ato Wossen Mulu, Lead Executive Officer of Copyright and Neighboring Rights, who provided valuable insights into Ethiopia’s IP framework.
Adding a cultural highlight to the event, the “Sounds of Ashenda” album, produced by Muzikawi, was featured — with a live performance by the artists themselves, creating a dynamic and inspiring close to the day.
